A Film by John Paget

Originally from Olympia, Washington, award-winning filmmaker John Paget finds himself at home on the road, capturing the people’s stories with warmth, depth, and clarity, and framing landscapes and towns to reveal a vivid sense of place.

Having made his earliest documentaries about the legendary highway, Paget’s latest film builds on deep Route 66 roots. As Michael Wallis, author of Route 66: The Mother Road, exclaims: “For 30 years, I’ve said that John Paget’s documentary, Route 66: An American Odyssey, is the best documentary ever made on the Mother Road. I can’t wait to see his new film for the Route 66 Centennial!”

Join John on an ambitious 2,400-mile journey across eight states, documenting everyday heroes and enduring towns—communities finding new life and purpose and making new history.

Officially selected by the U.S. Route 66 Centennial Commission as part of the national commemoration of the highway’s 100th anniversary, Route 66: The Main Street of America uncovers something deeper than nostalgia—it celebrates resilience, reinvention, and the enduring American spirit of adventure.
